SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Kelvin Yeboah scored two goals to help Minnesota United beat the San Jose Earthquakes 5-1 on Saturday night to snap a nine-game winless streak.
Minnesota (7-7-7) won for the first time since a 3-2 victory at Columbus on May 2.
The Earthquakes (10-8-3) have lost four in a row and are winless in six straight.
Drake Callender had five saves for Minnesota. Joaquín Pereyra, Marcus Caldeira and Mauricio González each scored a goal.
Yeboah, on the counter-attack, flicked a shot from the top of the penalty box inside the left post — his first goal since May 16 — to make it 2-1 in the 40th minute and gently chipped a first-touch shot over the head of goalkeeper Angus Gunn into the net in the 44th to give Minnesota a two-goal lead.
