The Minnesota Twins are calling up top prospect Walker Jenkins, a source tells KSTP, giving the 21-year-old outfielder his first chance in the major leagues as the club tries to stay in the American League playoff race.

Jenkins, the fifth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, is regarded as the Twins’ top prospect and one of baseball’s top young talents. He’s hitting .323/.417/.559 with 14 homers for the St. Paul Saints in Triple-A this season. He’s also proven to be solid defensively in the outfield.

Jenkins is expected to join the Twins ahead of their upcoming series against the Chicago White Sox at Target Field, where he could make his major league debut this weekend. Minnesota will need a corresponding roster move to add him to both the active roster and the 40-man roster.
