Sprouts brand linked to 23 E. coli, salmonella cases in Minnesota, 18 in Wisconsin

Minnesotans are being warned not to consume alfalfa sprouts from the Calco and Everything Sprouts brand after over 20 cases of E. coli and salmonella infections were reported in Minnesota.

Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Department of Agriculture (MDA) officials say 23 Minnesotans fell ill between July 8 and Aug. 8 with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) or salmonella infections, and two of those people were hospitalized.

In Wisconsin, 18 cases have been reported, with one person hospitalized; surrounding states have also identified cases, MDH and MDA officials said.

State authorities say if you have bought sprouts from the Calco and Everything Sprouts brands, do not eat them, and throw them away.
