Small group with big power: Minneapolis Board of Estimate & Taxation to set max property tax hike soon

A Minneapolis board wielding a lot of power over how much property taxes will increase will soon set the max amount they can. 

Both the Minneapolis mayor and park board superintendent are seeking levy increases to handle their 2027 budget proposals — now members of the Board of Estimate & Taxation (BET) are considering how high those levies can go.
