Federal officials and a Minnesota Jewish community leader are responding to accusations tied to an internal misconduct investigation into former US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) commander Greg Bovino.
Internal CPB records show Bovino was under investigation when he retired in March after being ordered out of the Twin Cities during Operation Metro Surge. 337 pages of internal communications records revealed his time in Minnesota was central to the investigation.
CPB investigators questioned Bovino about what he allegedly said after learning U.S. Attorney for Minnesota Daniel Rosen would not attend a Saturday meeting because he observes the Sabbath. Records include “a comment to the effect of ‘Do Orthodox criminals also take off Saturday?'” and another about “chosen people.”
