Person dies after Green Line train strike in St. Paul

A person died Friday night after being struck by a Green Line train in St. Paul.

According to Metro Transit, the collision happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. near University and Prior avenues, where a westbound train struck a person on the tracks.

Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but the person died. As of Saturday morning, authorities have not released the victim’s name or information about what led to the crash.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash temporarily disrupted Green Line service on Friday. Metro Transit said buses replaced trains between the Snelling Avenue and Raymond Avenue stations while authorities cleared the scene.

Metro Transit police said the investigation is ongoing.
