Flooding hits New Richland as rainfall has closed roads and damaged property in the area

The weekend’s rainfall has caused flooding in New Richland, according to the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office, shutting down roadways and damaging properties.

According to the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office, water was still rising around New Richland.

The sheriff’s office told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that residents have reported receiving up to 9 inches of rain, though these reports have not been confirmed.

While no injuries have been reported, the sheriff’s office said the flooding has damaged multiple properties and required the New Richland Care Center, which houses 36 residents, to evacuate.

Flooding has also shut down several roads.
