Minnesota is spending $41 million on teacher pipeline grants as school districts use the money to help more people become teachers.
Districts across Minnesota are applying for the money through five grant programs. The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) said some of the programs have been in place for years and helped thousands of people on their path to teaching.
“The overarching goal is to remove barriers to individuals who want to become teachers,” said Greg Keith, director of the Educator Workforce and Development Center at the MDE.
The Department of Education said that in the 2024-2025 school year, more than 2,800 people benefited, and most were people of color.
