A Hennepin County deputy was injured after a stolen car linked to multiple smash-and-grab cases in Minneapolis crashed into the squad car during a pursuit early on Friday morning, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said that around 2 a.m., deputies were assisting the Minneapolis Police Department with the pursuit of a stolen car. Authorities said a deputy was driving through an intersection with a green light when the fleeing car went through a red light and smashed into the squad car.
Three teenagers and one adult inside the stolen car were arrested after deputies also found a gun, a replica gun and narcotics inside the car, according to deputies.
After further investigation, authorities traced the stolen car back to multiple recent smash-and-grab cases in the area.
As for the deputy, authorities said he was treated at the scene and is expected to be OK.
