Maple Grove police search for suspect involved in assault on park trail

Police in Maple Grove say they’re stepping up patrols after a man attacked a woman Sunday morning at Elm Creek Park Reserve.

According to the Maple Grove Police Department, the assault happened around 8:30 a.m. on one of the park’s trails. A heavyset man in his 30s allegedly forced the woman to the ground and put a shirt over her mouth before running away.

The suspect was wearing bright blue shorts and no shirt at the time of the incident. He may have been carrying a gray shirt with him, police said.
