Over 300 officers across 62 agencies working the State Fair amid record crowds

Record crowds at the State Fair have brought a large police presence as officers work to keep the fairgrounds running smoothly.

More people went through the gates in the first three days than ever before. State Fair Police Chief Ron Knafla said more than 300 officers from 62 agencies are working the 12-day fair.

Knafla is in his 38th year working for State Fair police and his fifth year as chief. He said this year’s policing strategy has shifted just a little bit.
