A Zimmerman man has been charged with killing one person and injuring four others at a mental health facility earlier this week. Those charges come just a month after separate attempted murder and assault charges were filed against him.
Derek Duane Faulkner, 31, is now facing one count of second-degree murder and four counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
He’s now being held in Hennepin County Jail on a $5 million unconditional bond, pending his next court hearing.
The family of the victim has retained a law firm to investigate and consider legal action.

According to court records, just after 6:30 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to multiple 911 calls from a residential mental health facility in Minneapolis on reports that a man, identified as Faulkner, was attacking multiple people.
