A movie theater in the northwest metro is unveiling a major upgrade this week.
The Plymouth Grand 15 theater is adding an IMAX screen, making it just the fifth in the state, including Emagine Lakeville, AMC Southdale 16, AMC Rosedale 14 and AMC Eden Prairie 13.
“We are the only theater in the northwest metro area that will have an IMAX, so we’re hoping that folks don’t have to drive a half hour, 45 minutes, an hour to an IMAX and it’ll be right here in their community, in their backyard,” said Michelle Mann, co-owner of Mann Theatres.
The IMAX screen will go into what was previously the XDX theater, which will be moving down the hall. Mann added that their flagship location in Plymouth is one of only two theaters in the state to have both an IMAX and XDX screen.
