Some come for the rides, but others, like Kelly and Steve Croteau from New Brighton, are hoping to satiate their fair food fix.
“(Spent) $14.50 plus bought him a beer that was $14.50, then the Nashville Chicken on a stick. It was like $44,” Kelly Croteau said.
For fair goers, there’s a bit of sticker shock on the menu: nearly $19 for a bucket of fries, a large pronto pup will cost you $11.50, and a cocktail around $17.
And it can be hard to find any food item cheaper than $10.
We asked Hannah Marinaro, from Hibbing, about her spending plan and the food prices she’s seen.
“Say, about 100 dollars for food, 100 dollars for other stuff,” she notes. “They’re definitely high, but again, it’s where the economy is at currently. It’s understandable things are going to be skyrocketing.”
