A growing memorial now lines a fence at the Second Street Apartments in Hopkins, honoring 31‑year‑old Kenneth Green — the man killed when an Xcel Energy utility pole snapped and fell onto his car on Aug. 23, setting it on fire.

Neighbors said Green had driven into the parking lot where he lived when the pole collapsed and landed directly on his vehicle. Authorities said he died at the scene.
Loved ones and neighbors have been visiting the memorial throughout the week, placing flowers, candles and handwritten messages. They said they want people to understand who Green was beyond the tragedy.
