Charges: Suspect who stabbed man in Dinkytown arrested while skateboarding shortly after

A man suspected of stabbing another man during a fight in Dinkytown has been charged.

Nicholas Steven Nunez Rodriguez, 19, is believed to have stabbed a man several times in the 1200 block of Fourth Street Southeast following an altercation between the two men on Friday.

Court records state that University of Minnesota police responded to reports of a stabbing at 2:33 a.m. and found a man with several stab wounds to his torso.

Bystanders said the man and another person, later identified as Rodriguez, had been in a fight that escalated to Rodriguez stabbing the man before walking away.

A short time later, Minneapolis Park police told U of M police they had found Rodriguez at Elliot Park, skateboarding.

Upon being taken into custody, Rodriguez reportedly told police without being asked, “If you guys reach in my pocket, the blade that I did it with is in there.”
