Charges: Man charged for abusing 4-week-old son after hospital found multiple fractures

A 30-year-old Minneapolis man is facing charges for abusing his 4-week-old child, leaving the infant with multiple fractures.

Bryan Michael Christansen was charged Tuesday in Hennepin County with one count of malicious punishment of a child.

According to a criminal complaint, Christansen and the baby’s mother brought the 4-week-old infant to the hospital on Aug. 3 after the baby’s eyes rolled back and coughed up blood while being burped.

Hospital staff noted the baby was lethargic with linear bruising on his flank and a rash on his stomach, the complaint stated.

Later that month, a skeletal survey indicated the child had multiple healing classic metaphyseal fractures
involving the baby’s left knee, right ankle, and left ankle, the complaint said, adding that hospital staff also noted an irregularity on the child’s right femur, which raised concern for an additional healing fracture...
