Ramsey County is considering an 8.25% property tax increase that would add about $53 a year for the average homeowner.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS reporter Harrison Klopp reported from St. Paul that county leaders are considering the increase for next year and said that figure is not expected to go much lower.
Linda Stai has lived in St. Paul and Ramsey County for the last 25 years.
“I love it here,” said Linda Stai.
What Stai did not love was hearing about the proposed 8.25% Ramsey County property tax increase. If approved, it would be the second straight year property taxes have increased.
“I think as senior citizens on fixed incomes, it’s going to put a dent in our lifestyle,” said Stai.
County Manager Ling Becker recommended the property tax increase and said she agrees with residents worried about the size of the increase.
