After Annunciation, legislature took no action on gun laws

Annunciation School parents made multiple pleas to lawmakers at the Minnesota State Capitol, trying to get them to pass new gun legislation after the mass shooting last August.

“My husband said those gunshots are at the school! I ran … I ran towards the school,” Annunciation parent Carla Maldonado said during testimony in a Minnesota Senate committee hearing. “My heart pounded in the pit of my stomach.” Her two kids were not physically harmed.

“Astoria was literally praying, literally praying next to one of her best friends who was murdered in cold blood by this monster,” Annunciation parent Brock Safe told the same committee, recounting how his daughter survived a gunshot wound.
