3 killed in head-on crash in northern Minnesota

A head-on crash in northern Minnesota killed three people Friday.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened around 11:11 a.m. at Highway 53 and County Road 521 in northwestern St. Louis County.

Officials said a 2019 Honda Accord was traveling north on Highway 53 while a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan was traveling south when the vehicles collided head-on.

The driver of the Honda, 24-year-old Abigail Holweger of Cottage Grove, died in the crash.

The driver of the Dodge, 67-year-old Sheila Friesner, and passenger Timothy Friesner, 68, also died. Both were from Roosevelt, Minnesota.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.
