Weldon Bowen, who lives in Tyler, Texas, is celebrating his 100th birthday on Sept. 5.
TYLER, Texas — A Texas official is asking people to send at least 100 cards to a World War II veteran to celebrate his centennial milestone.
Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board Chairwoman Dr. Dawn Buckingham put out a call Thursday, Aug. 20, to ask for help in celebrating Weldon Bowen ahead of his 100th birthday on Sept. 5.
Bowen was born in Luling, located in the Central Texas area, and enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps after high school in 1945.
