World War II veteran turning 100 asks for birthday cards to mark centennial celebration

Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board Chairwoman Dr. Dawn Buckingham put out a call Thursday, Aug. 20, to ask for help in celebrating Weldon Bowen ahead of his 100th birthday on Sept. 5.

Bowen was born in Luling, located in the Central Texas area, and enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps after high school in 1945.
