Willmar shooting kills 2 near Rau Park, third victim in critical condition

Two young men from Willmar are dead, and a third Willmar man was airlifted to a nearby hospital after a shooting near Rau Park in Willmar on Monday evening, according to police.

Willmar police responded to the 1000 block of 7th Street Northwest at around 8 p.m. for a report of gunfire and possible victims. Police and first responders found two injured men, a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old, and started life-saving measures on both. The two men were taken to the local hospital, where one was pronounced dead, and the other was flown to St. Cloud Hospital in critical condition.

A third man, a 19-year-old also from Willmar, was driven to the local hospital by a person. That man was also pronounced dead at the hospital.

Law enforcement have not identified the three men yet, but police say that they believe the shooting was isolated and not a random act of violence.
