The Twins went into the 2026 season with two goals owner Tom Pohlad believed were realistic: finish with a winning record and play meaningful baseball in September.
Neither happened.
Pohlad didn’t try to sugarcoat that Tuesday as he sat alongside general manager Jeremy Zoll and manager Derek Shelton for the Twins’ season-ending press conference.
“We fell short on both of those fronts,” Pohlad said. “No question, injuries were hard to overcome, but they are a fact of life in this league, not an excuse. We fell short because our roster wasn’t built for a 162-game season, and that made the margin for error razor thin.”
