PLYMOUTH, Massachusetts — Lindsay Clancy's time at a state-run psychiatric hospital could extend indefinitely as the judge presiding over the 36-year-old's murder trial appeared ready to declare a mistrial on Friday, Sept. 4, in a case that has challenged the limits of criminal responsibility and has left its jury deadlocked.
On trial for weeks after she was charged with murder for the deaths of her three young children in their Massachusetts home, Clancy's defense attorneys maintained that she had been experiencing postpartum psychosis when she killed 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan Clancy at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts in 2023.
