Weekend plans washed away due to rainfall across Minnesota

Weekend rain is changing plans across Minnesota, helping some places while forcing others to postpone Friday night football.

At the Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield, football was still set for Friday night while multiple high school games across the state were canceled or postponed.

At the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary, naturalist Keygan McClellan said the rain could help after one of the drier summers in recent memory. The expected 1 to 2 inches of rainfall could bring the wetland marsh back to normal levels.

At the Minneapolis Farmer’s Market, farmer Paly Yang said the rain came too late for some crops. The report said the growing season is nearing its end for Minnesota farmers and this year could have looked much better.

“It’s late, it’s late…we needed it like two months ago,” Paly Yang said.
