Minnesota’s Weather Authority remains in ALERT mode as additional heavy rain develops tonight, especially south of the Twin Cities.

RAINFALL SO FAR: A widespread 1 to 2 inches of rain has already fallen across much of the area, with the highest totals focused across the south metro and southern Minnesota.

MORE TONIGHT: Another round of storms is expected to develop overnight, mainly south of the metro. Those areas could pick up another 1 to 2 inches of rain.

The Twin Cities metro may see another quarter inch or so, with scattered showers and drizzle continuing through the night.

IMPACTS: With the ground already saturated in spots, additional heavy rain could quickly lead to ponding on roads, high runoff, and localized flooding in low-lying or poor-drainage areas.
