Twins fire pitching coaches, assistant athletic trainer after missing playoffs again

The Minnesota Twins have fired their two major-league pitching coaches and an assistant athletic trainer after another disappointing season that ended without making the playoffs.

Pitching coach Pete Maki and assistant pitching coach Luis Ramirez were let go on Monday, the club announced. Assistant athletic trainer Jason Kirkman also won’t return next year.

Maki had been with the Twins since 2018 in various capacities, serving as the pitching coach since July 1, 2022, when Wes Johnson abruptly left for LSU. Prior to that time, Maki had served as the club’s bullpen coach and minor league pitching coordinator.
