Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones Sr. says he played a role in helping the University of Minnesota recruit freshman running back Ryan Estrada, according to local reporter Darren Wolfson.

Jones and Estrada are both from El Paso, Texas. Wolfson reported that Estrada, considered one of the Gophers’ top incoming freshmen, is expected to earn playing time immediately as a true freshman.

In other college notes, St. Thomas plans to discontinue its baseball series with Minnesota in 2027 after losing three games to the Gophers by double-digit margins last spring. Wolfson also reported that the Tommies’ interest in joining the Missouri Valley Conference for multiple sports remains genuine.

Former Gophers pitcher George Klassen recently earned his first Major League victory with the Los Angeles Angels. Klassen was selected in the sixth round of the 2023 MLB Draft.
