The school district said the boy died the day before his 17th birthday.
FOUNTAIN, Minn. — A 16-year-old died after a crash on an ATV over the weekend.
It happened Saturday on private property in Fillmore County near the city of Fountain. According to the sheriff's office, the teen was unresponsive when first responders arrived. Officials say he was the only one on the ATV when he crashed.
The boy was flown to St. Mary's Hospital, where he died on Sunday.
Kingsland Public Schools posted on social media identifying the teen as Nathaniel Drees, and said Monday would have been his 17th birthday. A prayer vigil is planned for Monday night at St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
