Despite a U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing President Trump's restrictions on mail voting to move forward, Minnesota's mail-in balloting system will see no immediate changes ahead of the November midterms, Secretary of State Steve Simon said in an interview on Tuesday.
The Supreme Court did not rule on the legality of President Trump's March executive order around mail ballots, but the justices allowed the administration to proceed with the order pending more legal challenges. That executive order included a directive to the Department of Homeland Security to work with states to create voter lists of eligible U.S. citizens, which the United States Postal Service would then use as the basis for delivering ballots to voters.
