Stillwater voters see results of $175 million school plan

Stillwater voters are now seeing where a $175 million school facilities plan approved in 2023 went.

Two new elementary schools have opened in the district, including Lake Elmo Elementary School. 

The school opened in August and includes wide open spaces, flexible classrooms and an outdoor classroom. The design also brings in prairie and tree themes, while light fixtures in the media center represent clouds and sunshine.

“A space like this allows students to move around…it allows for more autonomy and individualization in this space,” said principal Gina Doe.

The school has capacity for 1100 students. There are currently about 800 enrolled, which is part of the Stillwater School District’s long-term plan for growth.
