Logan Fotsch returned the opening kick 95-yards for a touchdown as St. Thomas Academy beat Rochester Mayo 17-14 Friday night in Mendota Heights.
The Cadets led 10-0 at halftime, but Mayo made it interesting in the 3rd quarter. Kellen Burger connected on a 24-yard touchdown pass to Evan Hill to cut St. Thomas Academy’s lead to 10-7. The Cadets answered in the fourth quarter when Tristan Karl found George Plum for a 27-yard touchdown and the Cadets’ lead was 17-7.
Max Erickson scored on the ground for Rochester Mayo to make it a 17-14 game, but St. Thomas Academy was able to run out the clock to preserve the victory.
