A Virginia State University student faces a misdemeanor charge after police say she helped a suspect wanted in a shooting that injured five people.
WASHINGTON — A second person has been arrested in connection with a shooting near Virginia State University that injured five people, including a man who remains in critical condition.
Chesterfield County police said 19-year-old Ja’niah Johnson of Glen Burnie, Maryland, was charged with misdemeanor obstruction as an accessory after the fact. Johnson is a VSU student.
Police said Johnson voluntarily returned to Virginia on Tuesday and turned herself in to detectives. She was released on her own recognizance after appearing before a magistrate.
