MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Twins All-Star Byron Buxton's season is officially ending.
Audra Martin, who works for the Twins broadcast, posted on social media that Buxton will have surgery on his hip next week, ending his season.

The Twins were still pushing for a wild card spot when Buxton went on the IL, but losses in five of their last seven games have dropped the team to 4.5 games out with 16 games to play.
Buxton will finish his year with a .254 batting average, 25 home runs and 46 RBI. Minnesota hosts the Cleveland Guardians, the team hanging onto the final wild card spot, this weekend.
