New Richland to update residents on flood recovery help

Cleanup is underway in New Richland, as the city plans to update residents Thursday on flood recovery and community donations after heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding in southern Minnesota.

About 1,200 people were affected by the floods, and about 80% of homes were impacted, according to Waseca County Sheriff Jay Dulas. Some residents reported up to nine inches of water.

The floods also prompted an evacuation of the New Richland Care Center, with about 40 residents. Dulas said no injuries were reported.
