New bill introduced in Congress would reduce workweek to 32 hours

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Mark Takano, D-California, and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, introduced a bill in Congress this week that would reduce the workweek to 32 hours.

The Thirty-Two Hour Workweek Act would gradually reduce the number of hours in a standard workweek over four years before reaching the 32-hour mark.

It wouldn't necessary mean employers would reduce their employees' hours, but those employees would get overtime pay, which the bill defines as time and half, for anything over 32 hours.
