One doctor said they have been engaged in an "antagonistic bargaining battle" with the University of Minnesota.

MINNEAPOLIS — Outside the University of Minnesota Medical Center on Monday, resident physicians and fellows demanded their first contract, saying they have been bargaining for nearly a year without an agreement.

The Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR-SEIU) was officially certified in April of 2025. Negotiations for a contract began in September.

One doctor said that over the past year, they have been engaged in an "antagonistic bargaining battle" with the U of M. CIR-SEIU said in a press release that they are seeking fair pay and mental health benefits.
