Multiple people in custody after shots fired in Savage, 1 seriously hurt

The Savage Police Department has taken multiple people into custody after responding to a reported shots-fired incident Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, at 4:45 p.m., Savage Police and Fire, along with other law enforcement agencies, were called to reports of gunfire near 143rd Street and Utica Avenue.

Police said they took multiple people into custody.

One person sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, though police did not specify how this person was hurt.

At this time, there is no threat to the public, but law enforcement is asking residents to avoid the area as they investigate.
