Minnesota reports job loss for first time in 4 months

ST PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota lost nearly 2,000 nonfarm jobs on a seasonally adjusted basis in July, while the private sector decreased by about 800 jobs, according to data released Thursday by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).

The losses come after four straight months of growth and three months when the state outpaced the national average. Since January, Minnesota has added more than 44,000 jobs, which is a 1.5% growth. The national average this year is 0.2%, according to DEED.
