A man has learned his prison sentence for his role in a Boom Island Park shooting that left one dead and others injured.
Zyere Jakay Porter, 24, was sentenced to 30 years on Monday after pleading guilty to one count of aiding/abetting second-degree intentional murder and two counts of aiding/abetting a drive-by shooting.
As previously reported, a criminal complaint alleges that on June 1, 2025, Porter arrived at Boom Island Park with Marquez Demar Hill-Turnipseed and another man in a Dodge Challenger to attack a gang rival. Their associate got out of the Challenger and was chased and shot before being taken to the hospital in another car.
