Large police presence in downtown Minneapolis

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has heard from multiple viewers about a heavy police presence in downtown Minneapolis and reports of shots fired.

Callers first reported the situation at around 4:50 p.m. near the area of Nicollet Avenue and East Grant Street, near multiple apartment buildings and the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Minneapolis police say they are working to determine what is going on, but don’t have any confirmed information at this time.

Multiple KSTP crews are en route, and we will update as needed.
