A south Minneapolis resident says repeated car break-ins near Lake Nokomis have left him feeling unsafe and frustrated with city leadership.
Meyer Belkin said he and his partner Adam have seen three car break-ins in the last two years outside their home near Lake Nokomis. He said they saw the most recent break-in just after midnight Saturday morning.
“I just feel unsafe. I spent more money on a property for the purpose of feeling safe in my environment and hopefully supported by the amount of taxes that I pay, and I’ve got none of that,” said Belkin.
Minneapolis police later called to say officers found the suspects after video showed them breaking into multiple vehicles.
“Later in the afternoon we got a call from the sergeant, who said they had caught the youth, that they were 14 years old and that only one arrest was made and that they were in a stolen vehicle,” Belkin added.
