It’s the question many of us ask every time stores promote really good deals.

“Are the products marked down to be shown as a markdown but not marked down compared to the marketplace?” said Elizabeth Miskovich, a wealth advisor with KRM Generational Wealth Advisors.

She says it’s really about looking ahead.

“I think it’s about being a smart consumer,” Miskovich said.

Let’s take two upcoming sales for example: Target’s Circle Deal Days, which is a 48-hour sale Oct. 6 to 7 and Prime’s 48-hour sale on the same days.

“So that laundry detergent that you always use, get the average price of it so then when you go on Target and Amazon then you know if it’s at a deal or not.”
