Gophers coach Niko Medved on forward Cade Tyson: ‘Would be unbelievable to have him back’

KSTP Sports spoke with 2nd-year Gophers men’s basketball coach Niko Medved on Wednesday at the State Fair. The No. 1 topic involved leading scorer and forward Cade Tyson. As of now, he’s out of eligibility. But could he be back for one final season?

Tyson was originally among a group of athletes named in a Colorado lawsuit in July who are pursuing a fifth year of eligibility after the NCAA did not include the class of 2022 in its new five-for-five rules.

“It would be unbelievable to have him back,” Medved said. “But honestly, he’s got to do what’s best for him.”
