Fraudulent grant applications still have not been turned over to Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office

MINNEAPOLIS — Potentially fraudulent applications for a small business grant program have not been turned over to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office for investigation. 

That's according to officials with the sheriff's office, who told KARE 11 reporter Lou Raguse that they requested those documents in July.

The potentially fraudulent applications were for a Hennepin County grant program meant to help small businesses impacted by Operation Metro Surge. County officials said that of the 300 applications, they could only confirm 82 were eligible. Due to the number of fraudulent applications, the county ended the program.
