Mortgage rates continue to climb nearing 7%.

MAPLEWOOD, Minn. — Mortgage rates have been reaching new highs this week, nearing 7%, the highest it's been since President Donald Trump took office.

“Mortgage rates have been teetering between 6.5% - 7% for the last couple of months, so more folks out there actively buying this is not new information,” said Nichole Hayden, a realtor with Edina Realty.

Hayden is also on the board of the Saint Paul Area Association of Realtors. As interest rates climb, she said it’s important for sellers to keep in mind buyers are paying attention to the monthly payment because of all the other ways buyers are being financially impacted.
