Final day of the Minnesota State Fair: Frontier Saloon closes after decades, some vendors celebrate a successful first year

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. — The Frontier Saloon closed for the final time on Monday after decades at the Minnesota State Fair, ending a run that included generations of customers and live country music.

John Jameson, who manages the saloon, said he had worked there on and off for about 50 years, holding nearly every position. The Frontier opened in 1963. Jameson’s father later purchased the business in 1976 and owned it until his death last year.
