Nearly three in four Americans think tipping has gotten out of control.

Gratuity screens and tip jars seem to be everywhere. More than three in five Americans won’t tip if they order standing up. Many are feeling “tip fatigue.”

“If I had all the money in the world, I would be tipping everybody all the time,” Jason Condit said. “I have no problem with it. I would love to give people money and be tipping, but you feel weird sometimes.”

AARP says 18% to 20% tip is customary at full-service restaurants. The standard tip for hairstylists is 15% to 20%.
