The U.S. Department of Transportation announced a crackdown on commercial driving schools across the country on Monday, targeting operations that failed to make sure students were proficient in English, a longstanding federal rule.
A White House task force to root out fraud across government has made Minnesota a target of scrutiny in the past, but this time a news conference in Detroit about an “emergency removal” of 110 CDL schools across the country did not include the North Star State.
“I think the good news for Minnesota is the schools are doing their job,” said John Hausladen, president of the Minnesota Trucking Association.
He cautioned that does not mean that driving schools in Minnesota are not under scrutiny.
