It is the first-ever recorded natural nesting for any sea turtle species on the U.S. West Coast, NOAA Fisheries said.
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — An olive ridley sea turtle laid eggs on a Southern California beach for the first time in recorded history, officials said Monday.
NOAA Fisheries said the turtle, named after the olive green color of its heart-shaped shell, dug a nest and laid eggs near Seal Beach in Orange County, California, just south of Long Beach.
